Well our 3rd to last field weekend seen a nasty southerly turn up prior to the weekend making seas less than desirable for the 23 fisho’s that got out and gave it their all.
Fifteen fish were brought home this weekend with most of them unfortunately being the winter variety.
Nine Red Cod were weighed with our lovely Estella bringing home 6 and the most fish weighed for the weekend. Jimmy Beazley had the heaviest at 0.83kg, And Estella getting 2nd and 3rd with 0.78kg & 0.75kg.
It was good to see Johnny Purser weigh some fish getting heaviest Kahawai of 1.78kg and 2nd SSH of 2.77kg.
Hamish Nichol got the heaviest and only other SSH caught at 3.08kg and 2nd Kahawai of 1.71kg.
Jimmy Beazley got the 3rd and only other Kahawai at 0.96kg.
Well done to all those who attempted the seas and weighed fish in. Lets hope that the week ahead brings nice weather and nicer seas for our 2nd to last field weekend this coming weekend of 26th and 27th March which also happens to be Easter. So for all of you travelling away for the break, travel safe and enjoy your holiday. And if your fishing either around or away, travel safe also, have fun and good luck. See you all on Sunday.
There will be a meeting at the fire station on the 6th April. Then from the 20th – 23rd April NZACA Nationals up Far North. With the final field weekend being held May 14th & 15th.
