Our final field weekend of the 2019/20 season was generously sponsored by Hamills Napier. Unfortunately, due to a combination of average weather and Hawkes Bay winter fishing, only 7 fish crossed the scales. Six spotted smooth hounds and 1 kahawai.
Steve Gorst weighed the only kahawai taking out the average weight kahawai prize. Kane took out the heaviest other with his SSH weighing 5.76kg.
Kane’s SSH also took out the Gun City jackpot prize for a trunked SSH over 5kg. Well-done Kane!
Thanks again to our awesome sponsors!

Considering we lost the best fishing weeks to the Covid lockdown, the numbers are still quite impressive and reflect a highly successful season.
In total 666 fish were weighed over the 12 field weekends, with the top 3 contributing species being kahawai – 251, snapper – 227 and gurnard – 72. Awesome to see gurnard being weighed in reasonable numbers again!
The most successful weekend was field weekend four (15-17 Nov) with 116 fish weighed. The least successful was field weekend twelve (19-21 June) with 7 fish weighed
