Ten Pania members fronted up at Tahaenui on Saturday October 10th to challenge Gisborne SC for possession of the Pania Shield. However, the conditions were not ideal for good fishing and only 3 weighable fish were caught between the two teams.
The Gisborne side presented two Kahawai (divided by 6, the minimum number of fishos allowable under the rules). This gave Gisborne the win in the Pania Shield.
Hamish Nichol caught Pania’s only qualifying fish, a smoothhound, which weighed more than Gisborne’s two kahawai but had to be divided by the number of Pania fishos (10 ). So, the shield stays with Gisborne.
