The 2017-18 season kicks off this weekend September 9-10. The sponsor for this weekend is Streetwise Coffee so be sure to support them on your way to or from your fishing spots.
September can offer some great fishing if the weather gives us a break.
Snapper are always a chance on beaches north of Napier and that could include Westshore!
Closer to home Awatoto, east Clive and Haumoana will give up kahawai , red cod, barracouta.
The reefs at TeAwanga, Napier port, whirinaki and Tangoio could be the place to find a fat Moki.
There should be Lemonfish all along the coast you may need to just fish around a bit to find
them, some could be large.
Up north at Whakaki, Blacks or over the hill at mahia there may be large, high scoring tope as
well as the chance to hook a big snapper.
Watch out for kahawai along the beaches at Bayview and Awatoto where they could be chasing
whitebait. Make sure you have some spinners with single or double hook. No trebles!
Keep an eye on the local swellmap conditions on the left side of this page.
Good luck everyone.
See you at the weigh-in Sunday 12.00.
