Field Weekend #3 is this weekend November 18-19 and is brought to you by Thirsty Liquor – Black Bull, with a total prize pool of around $280.
It is a normal field weekend with normal start/end times and club boundaries.
Have you noticed the change in the fishing this year? We are already experiencing December/January results. It seems we are a couple of months ahead of the game already. If you are waiting for the fishing to get started maybe you missed it.
Here are a few thoughts for the coming weekend.
Day time onshore winds can be expected and there will likely be some residual swell around. Niggly conditions to fish in some of the time but ideal conditions for quality catches. Snapper will be on the menu with shoalies likely to invade the northern beaches of Blacks Tahaenui and Whakaki. Gurnard are about too and could show anywhere in our fishing area. With two over a kilo weighed in already look out for some good sized ones. Kingfish are a possibility around rivermouth areas and it is probably worth putting out a livey if you want some of that action. Kahawai could be a bit hit and miss but if the wind shifts north or west look for surface activity from Haumoana to Whirinaki. Otherwise hard work with good baits at the rivermouth areas should turn up a few for you.
What about big snapper? You say. Well my pick for them is Mohaka, Marine Parade, possibly Haumoana and medium size fish at Te Awanga.
Have a safe and fun weekend and bring some fish for us to admire at weigh in.
