Weigh Master’s Report Field Weekend Six 16th & 17th January 2021

Field Weekend Six was generously sponsored by Hamills Fishing and Hunting. It was a Challenge Weekend with 300 bonus points on offer for any members weighing three or more species. Unfortunately, the predicted big easterly swells arrived on cue to make fishing challenging to say the least. Sixteen members braved the swells with only 42 fish crossing the scales. Only Kane, Karim, George, and Peter K scoring three or more species for the bonus points.
Prizes went to James P for the heaviest snapper; Karim for the average weight kahawai; Kane for heaviest gurnard and Peter K for the heaviest bag. The only pin fish caught was Karim’s 1.51kg trevally. Well done guys! Thanks again to Hamill’s for the awesome prizes!
As Field Weekend Six marks the halfway point in our season, here are some stats from the first half of the season.
So far 387 fish have been weighed with the top three species weighed being 130 snapper, 121 Kahawai and excitingly Gurnard 3rd with total of 75 weighed! So cool to see Gurnard featuring strongly again for our club.
The first half of the 20/21 season has also seen 29 pin fish weighed!
Current leaders in the heaviest of each species include – Snapper 8.79kg caught by Dion (FW 3). Gurnard shared by Kane and George 1kg (both FW 4). Kingfish 15.58kg caught by Tareq (non-FW). Trevally 3.89kg (new club record) caught by James B (FW 5) and Kahawai 2.97kg caught by Kane (non-FW)
Here’s hoping for even better results for the second half of the 20/21 season.
Tight lines,

Hamish
