Streetwise field weekend one kicked off with excellent sea and weather conditions. Most members fished locally, with most catching good numbers of kahawai.
29 members fished with 120 fish crossing the scales. Consisting of:
102 kahawai
10 barracouta
4 red cod
3 gurnard
The highlights of the weekend for me… Seeing 3 gurnard caught, all from Ocean beach, 2 to Kane and 1 to James P which was also a pin and saw James take out the jackpot for the heaviest gurnard over 750g. Well done Kane and James.
The second highlight was the 4-pin kahawai weighed. These pin fish were caught by John Purser (2.56kg), Kevin O’Conner (2.6kg), Gary Kemsley (2.5kg) and a huge shout out to junior member Lochlan McKenzie for his (2.56kg) kahawai! Awesome effort.
Thirdly to the 4 juniors that weighed fish, Lochlan, Courtney, Xavier M and Xavier B, well done kids! Awesome to see all these juniors having a go. Big thanks also need to go to the mums and dads that get these kids out there fishing! They are after all the future of our club.
Congratulations to all who took out prizes, kindly donated by Streetwise Coffee. Don’t forget to support the local businesses that support us.
Just a few reminders. Please ensure all fish you want to weigh are clean and fresh. Fish covered in sand or putrid fish may not be accepted by this weighmaster. Also, ensure your fish meet minimum club sizes. If you’re unsure, check them against the measuring board before weigh in begins.
Good luck to all fishing field weekend 2. Remember this is an open field weekend, meaning you can fish anywhere and the weigh in will be at the later time of 2pm at the fire station.
Tight lines,
