Our final Field weekend for the year (FW12) was kindly sponsored by Rivers to Ranges and was an open boundary weekend.
24 members fished FW12 and those that travelled to the Bay of Plenty/East Cape faired best. There were 54 Snapper across the scales, with the heaviest of 4.22kg caught by Peter K, which saw him take out the jackpot. Two pin fish were weighed with Courtney landing a 1.6kg Trevally and Hamish a 2.54kg Kahawai.
The absolute stand-out for the weekend had to be Courtney Brooks, who was the only member to weigh a limit bag of Snapper along with two Gurnard and a Trevally for an amazing 1380 points – well done!
Once again thank you to Rivers to Ranges for your ongoing generous sponsorship.2018 – 2019 proved to be a very successful one for the club. Over the course of the twelve field weekends a total of 589 fish crossed the scales made up of 13 species. The break down looked like this:
I believe this may be the first year that Snapper has outnumbered Kahawai, possibly due to the inclusion of our two open boundary field weekends. It was also encouraging to see a reasonable number of Gurnard weighed this season.
A huge thank you to Peter K as Club Captain for the exciting and innovative calendar he produced for us this year with great challenges and prizes for all members.
